Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival In Homer Alaska

Best Alaska Birdwatching Opportunities In The World

The Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival in Homer Alaska takes place in early May each year when the sea, & shore birds are migrating back to Alaska to their summer nesting, & feeding grounds. This offers some of the best birding, & bird watching opportunities in the world, as hundred’s of thousand’s of birds with many varieties, & species.

Our Homer shorebird festival birding tours offered thru the Kachemak Bay bird festival during the 4-day event fill every season within hours on the first day the event tours go on sale on the Kachemak Bay Bird festival website.

Don’t despair if you cant get a spot on one of our tours during the event as we offer tours every day before and after the birding festival. On most days our birders are counting 30-45 different species of sea, & shore birds.

The birding in the locations we travel to in Chinitna Bay in Lake Clark National Park offers excellent birding all summer, with nesting puffins, oyster catchers, cormorants, eiders, and many more. We also see plenty of sea life such as otters, seals, possible whales, and also lots of Alaskan coastal Brown/grizzly bears.

Our Alaska Birding Watching Tour

Our daily Birding tours go to a very remote small island in Chinitna bay located in Lake Clark National Park & the national marine maritime wildlife Refuge. Chisik Island can also be accessed which is a large rookery for kittiwake’s and puffins.

The tours depart by boat in Anchor Point which is 15 miles north of Homer. Departure is early morning then traveling 40 miles (1.5 hours) across beautiful Cook Inlet to a very remote Island in Chinitna Bay.

This area also world famous for it’s high density of Brown/grizzly Bears, where we can get you extremely close to several large coastal brown bears.
