The Drive from Anchorage to Kenai & Soldotna is a very scenic and well
maintained paved highway along the Seward & Sterling Highways also known as
Highway 1.
How to get here: From Anchorage you will follow Highway 1 South on the Kenai
Peninsula 150 miles to Soldotna. There is lots to see on the drive along
Turnagain arm you can view Dall Sheep on the mountains above, and Belulga
whales in the ocean. Stop at portage glacier, see Moose and other wildlife.
About 30 miles before the town of Seward you will come to a fork in the road
and take a right onto the Sterling Highway which will take you along Kenai
Lake and the beginning of Alaska’s Kenai River. You will go thru the Town of
Cooper Landing and drive by the popular fishing area of the Russian River
where many people fish from the shore for Sockeye or Red Salmon. You will
then drive out onto the Kenai flats where you are likely to see moose before
you come into the town of Sterling Alaska. Just 12 miles past Sterling you
will come into Soldotna Alaska where our Fishing lodges are located. On the
days you go fishing for the giant Alaska halibut off Anchor Point you will
continue south on this same highway south towards Homer Alaska passing thru
the small Alaska villages of Kasilof, Clam Gulch, Ninilchick at Deep Creek
and then Anchor Point 10 miles from Homer where you will find our halibut
boat parked along the Anchor River near the Anchor Point State Park on the
Beach of Cook Inlet where our 30 foot halibut charter boat will be launched
into Alaska’s Cook Inlet for the best halibut fishing in the world.
