Alaska Fishing Report

The Alaska fishing season is still going strong, the king season ended july 31st with a bang with one of our clients from fargo landing a 81lb kenai river king salmon, we had several other kings from 50-66lbs this season also.

Halibut has been very consistent with limit catchs every trip except one average weights have been 25-70lbs, august has started very well with lots of silver salmon in the Kenai river along with the remote fly out streams and out in the saltwater.

On sunday august 9th we had one of our best days in 21 years with long time client dale buckner from Texas, we went on an super long range trip 70 miles out to gore point in the gulf of Alaska, we caught over 60 fish of 5 different species in 4 hours of fishing. we kept 47 fish with 4 ling cod up to 44lbs, 10 yelloweye snapper, 15 black sea bass, 12 silver salmon, and 7 halibut, with a total weight of 549lbs. One drift we had all 5 anglers hooked up with 4 different species with 2
yellow eye, 1 ling cod, 1 black bass, & 1 silver salmon.

Attached are some photos, there still is little time left to get to alaska before we shut down for the season, also is that time of year to start planning a fishing adventure to Costa Rica.

Dave Sams halibut trip

Dave Sams from anchorage brings some friends down for a day of alaska halibut fishing on Memorial day and gets the biggest catch of may with 1 fish at 125 lbs and 1 at 60lbs and several more at 40-50lbs

Tom Cramer trip

Tom Cramer and his son come up to enjoy 4 days of Alaska fishing after 1 day of kenai river king salmon fishing with no luck we do the 3 remaining days fishing for halibut wheer limits of fish up to 40lbs caught everyday with some nice fillets to take back home.

Tim Arneson fishing trip

Tim Arneson along with 4 friends come on an alaskan fishing vacation for 3 days on June 9th with no luck on the kenai river for salmon we fly out to Big river lakes for sockeye or red salmon and catch 8 reds and lose several more while we had to share our fishing hole with a couple of hungary black bears, tims group also had as of this date the best overall average in weight on their halibyt fishing day with
all 10 fish weighing out between 40-70lbs.

Costa Rica & Alaska fishing newsletter

I have just returned from a trip to Costa Rica to get our Boat the Dream Raiser a
35\' cabo express ready for the upcoming busy fishing season out of Los Suenos
marina in Costa Rica.

The fishing is very good right now with large numbers of dorado 10-30 fish days,
and lots of Yellowfin tuna Offshore too. we have seen a few sailfish & marlin too,
with one boat getting 7 sails & 15 dorado on the 19th of October when we went out.

Seas are always calm, and the tempreture a very pleasant 85 with partly cloudy skies.

November & December is a great time to beat the toursit crowds and also save a
bunch of money before prices of tourist related activities go up during the peak
tourist time of january, feburary, & march.

Also this is the best time to catch more vareity of species & more of the meat fish
such as tuna and dorado and also inshore of roosters and snapper, as we get into
the january to march time frame while there may be more numbers of sailfish and
marlin ther will far less of all the other fish.

Another plus of avoiding the peak tourist timeframe is the great deals you will
find on all the other activities Cosat Rica has to offer.

For the month of November & up until the 20th of December we will offer FREE
lodging at a luxury condo on our 3 day fishing & 5 nights lodging package.
This will bring the total cost of your package for your entire party down to
$4,500.00 divided by the number of people in your party.

If you dont need lodging or only want 1 day of fishing we will offer a 25% discount
on the boat rate of $1,500 a day.

Also for those of you looking to fish Alaska in the summer of 2010, now is the time
to start planning and get some dates reserved before they start filling inas we
already have several bookings for 2010 & 2011.

Remember 2010 is a pimk year in august along with the silvers and the silver salmon
fishing in august has been spetacular for the past several years and is becoming
the most consistant time to always catch fish, halibut has been steady with limit
catchs everyday all though theer dont semm to be as many fish over 100lbs anymore,

we also have been doing long range combo trips for ling cod, yellow eye snapper,
silver salmon, black bass & halibut off the tip of the Kenai peninsula in very
remote waters rarly fished off of Gore point, These trips in 2009 produced
unbelivable catches of 5 different species.

Samir Turk trip

Samir Turk and his 2 boys from Minot fish for 5 days the first week of June, limits of halibut caught every day, but with the kenai river muddy and slow for salmon we do a fly out to big river lakes for a limit of 12 sockeye salmon, usually we see bears fishing too but on this day we see no bears.

Shawn Brown with friend mike enjoyed 4 days of fishing the last week of May with 2 days of limits on halibut and with 1 king landed of 4 fish on from the Kenai river.

Mowbray plumbing trip

Mowbray plumbing and heating from Minot North Dakota fish alaska with 4 anglers for 5 days from may 28th thru June 1st, 13 king salmon landed with 5 in the saltwater on 3 halibut salmon combo trips, and 1 keani river king and 7 kings in one day on the Kasilof river, also caught limits of halibut every day up to 85lbs, and took home over 300lbs of fillets, but as always the big one got away when they hoode into a humpback whale that spooled the reel in seconds.

Kevin Kruckinberg party

Kevin Kruckinberg group from mandan North Dakota on a 4 day fishing trip, over 10 king salmon landed on a remote flyout to the Nushagak river, and over 500lbs of halibut caught with 2 days halibut fishing.

Buz Rooney & Bruce Sanford

Buz rooney fronm pensilvainia and bruce sanford from Nevada team up together for a 5 day fishing pacakage from may 31st to june 4th and do very well on King salmon, with 3 landed in the salwater on our combo trips, and another 4 King salmon landed on the kenai river, also caught their limit of halibut for the 3 days they fished the saltwater.

Craig Wicks alaska fishing

Craig Wicks party of 6 anglers for 5 days of fishing for a 40th birthday party, from the 16th to 20th of June, hit it good on the Kenai River with 3 kings landed on tuesday the 16th and a limit of nice halibut on the 17th, and agian on the kenai for 1 salmon on the 18th, they aslo did a run up to the russian river to get in on the action of the best red salmon return in years where they caught their limit of 18 reds each time in just a few hours, they also had a great catch on the saltwater for their 2 halibut trips.
